moving_pictures Splendid album. Clean, soaring vocals, strong instrumental works, deep riffs and just damn catchy arrangements make this debut seem like the work of a band well into its fourth or fifth release. This is polished, solid, and utterly listenable. Favorite track: Illuminate.

vderka A real big surprise this band is for me, never heard of them, saw that they come from the land of metal, raised my curiosity and clicked on them. After listening to 2 track, they instantly convinced me to buy. I believe they had plenty of chance to learn and evolve from the current similar bands to create their own world and atmosphere. Well done DS! SUOMI FINLAND PERKELE!!! Favorite track: Melancholia.

Steven Konopa This is absolutely an incredible album. The beautiful female vocals with the very catchy and melodic compositions just make this an awesome packet. Not only that, the recording quality is very clean and dynamic on my high-end audio rig. This is actually the forth album by this outfit. If you can find them, I highly recommend tracking down and listening to their previous three albums. Favorite track: Melancholia.

Cinematic metal icons DARK SARAH start an astonishing new fairytale-like storyline with their fourth studio album, Grim. The beguiling new dimension, coalescing between crystal-clear vocals and propulsive hardness, draws you into the tempestuous maelstrom of their horror fantasy theme. Introducing the new protagonist Luna, the band invites you to their mythical world of orbs, ravens, rabbit-headed people and Mörk, that’ll wrap you up in a surreal dreamscape.

Starting off with “My Name is Luna”, characterized by the sonorous orchestral arrangement and its captivating spiritual atmosphere, the listener gets directly involved into the magic of Grim’s arcane fantasy. “Melancholia“ transports you further into the depths of the imagination: The dark, gloomy epos is led by harsh rhythmical structures coalescing with descending key patterns that frame its musical aesthetics. Heidi’s vigorous, yet melancholic soprano-like voice suffuses the rough soundscapes and merges with a glacial narrative. The protagonist, Luna, gains the magical power to see her past by a blue orb, helping her to reflect all occurrences and unveil the truth of why her heart was frozen.

Opening with a threatening, horror-esque intro, leading throughout “All Ears!”, the tremendous musical energy of marching rhythms paired with Heidi’s blandishing vocals and the frightening story, unite into an indestructible alliance of electricity: Luna casts a compelling spell over the citizens of Grim. As mighty as no one could have imagined, she rises, forming an army marching against their conjoint enemy – Mörk.

The overwhelming intensity of DARK SARAH’s masterfully told cinematic metal saga sends shivers down your spine and takes possession of heart and soul, while leaving you with pure emotions. Grim flourishes with its full magnitude, unfolding its potential with every very second.

Melissa Bonny is the best symphonic female vocalist not named Floor Jansen. Sadly, Ad Infinitum chooses to throw in incomprehensible death metal growling - which I flatly can't stand. The band seems to have lost a bit of identity and direction. moving_pictures

#3 2023: "XANDRIA reborn", concerning the line-up. In terms of music it is what you expect from one of the leading symphonic metal bands. 75 minutes(!) of bombastic, dramatic, well arranged and varied female fronted metal. Each song on this long player is catchy, full of pathos and a hit, Also the new singer makes a great job and brings soul into the heavy soundscapes. A must have release for fans of this genre. Not original, but better than all Nightwash releases since "Dark Passion Play"! H.L.
